Wigs 101 with Chelsea Kerr

$45Now that you have the basic wig work under your belt lets expand your knowledge on styling and shaping! Rather than simply ‘shake and go’ out of the bag, let’s customize that wig to complete the perfect look for yourself and/or your client. There are many different methods to achieving the style you need, this workshop will explore Chelsea’s favorite methods.
Chelsea is a professional stylist in Edmonton and wig technician working theatre and film. Chelsea’s specialty is building and styling for her Drag King and Queen clients.
In this workshop Chelsea will demonstrate her techniques. There will be some hands-on work as well for each student. This workshop will cover:
- Using steam rather than heat to shape a wig
- Learn how to do professional roller sets
- Creating extreme volume using rats and teasing methods
- Practice creating different textures and braids
- How to build anime looks that last (spiking and firm styles)
- Learn to block lace, cut and shape
- Learn how to cut bangs and general clean-up of hair/wigs
This workshop has been renamed, old title was ‘Level Two Working with Wigs’
All skill levels are welcome. We do prefer if you have taken Intro to Working with Wigs or Wig Hacks workshop before taking this workshop. Students are asked to bring a notebook and pen. Theatre Garage offers a 10% discount to any wig or wig supply the day of workshop. This workshop is $45 and is 2 hours.
Be sure to book early! Our workshops are taught in small groups. Each workshop has a minimum amount of students needed. TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR WORKSHOPS
- Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to attend. Students 13 and 14 years of age must be supervised by are parent or guardian over 18 years old who must also purchase a ticket
- No refund once the workshop is booked. You can transfer your ticket to another student, please inform Theatre Garage.
- Late attendees to the workshop or no-shows will not be refunded
- Workshops must be paid in full to reserve a spot.
- No food in the workshop room. Only covered drinks are permitted.
- Please be aware of your workspace. Our instructors will go over the safety guidelines of tools and materials used. Theatre Garage is not responsible for any damage to personal tools, supplies and/or personal injury.
- Please check with instructor/other students if photos or videos are permitted during the workshop.
